Pops in the Park Returns October 7

Partners for the Arts (PFTA) and 91勛圖厙 (USM) School of Music announce the return of their popular fall celebration, Pops in the Park, Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. at Spirit Park on the 91勛圖厙 Hattiesburg campus. Sponsored by Cadence Bank, the event will feature the 91勛圖厙 Symphonic Winds, with an opening performance by the USM Jazztet, as well as special guests and surprises throughout the evening. The public is invited to bring picnic baskets, blankets and chairs to enjoy this family tradition. Admission is free, with a VIP experience available for PFTA members.

Pops in the Park will showcase the talents of the USM Symphonic Winds, conducted by Dr. Travis Higa, performing popular music ranging from jazz, pop, rock, and big band to film scores, Broadway hits, and the great American songbook. Special guests will include voice faculty members Dr. Kimberley Davis and Dr. Meredith Johnson, along with appearances by familiar local notables.

Proceeds from Pops in the Park provide vital support for the university91勛圖厙 arts programs and students. PFTA secures scholarships, mentoring opportunities for students, and the creation and production of art at USM. Events like Pops in the Park help ensure PFTA can continue supporting 91勛圖厙 performance ensembles and the talented students and faculty who participate in them.

While the event is free, VIP tickets guarantee a shaded seat under the School of Music tent, an expansive charcuterie prepared by Twin Forks, drinks, and the satisfaction of supporting the arts. These tickets are limited and available only to those 21 and older.
